Perspective: Is Trump Administration Guilty Of Piracy?

COVID-19 Scandal

April 16, 2020 | By Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie |

There have been disturbing reports that a shipment of protective gear (PPE) have been allegedly seized and redirected to elsewhere destined for Jamaica. Is this true?

The local Embassy has not denied this report, but have indicated that they are investigating same.

Cayman

A similar shipment with COVID 19 gear was alleged redirected by the USA. After protest the American Ambassador to Jamaica Donald Tapia was able to have shipment redirected to Cayman and so foil the alleged “Piracy”.

Jamaica

Jamaica has an excellent relationship with the Trump Administration. You recall that PM Holness met with Trump at his Margo Largo Residence in Florida USA last year.

Health Minister Tufton reported this alleged piracy of PPEs by the USA to Parliament yesterday.

Secretary Of State

Ambassador Pompeo came to Jamaica recently. We deserve better treatment from a friend.

Perspective:

We hope these reports of alleged piracy of PPEs destined for Jamaica are false. Let them have this lifesaving gear released/redirected to Jamaica immediately.

It would be unfortunate if the Trump Administration would allow its image to be so stained. Piracy is distasteful, disgusting, demeaning and a downright disgrace. We hope we are wrong. This is our perspective. What is yours?
