This morning, PM Andrew Holness handed over $20M from the Universal Service Fund (USF) to the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica (PBCJ) to assist in providing educational programming for children displaced from regular school attendance due to COVID-19.

“This second educational channel will focus on public education for infant, primary and secondary students.” said PM Holness.

“When this channel is fully operational, I encourage parents to sit with their children and motivate them to attend these classes to catch up with the curriculum they would have lost during the almost two years out of school.” the PM continued.

A part of the government’s strategy is to ensure that we have channels that our citizens can go to and get accurate information to increase their knowledge. The expectation is that they will become pro-social, pro-growth, and productive members of our democracy.
