JAMAICA RECORDS 4TH MONKEYPOX CASE

Monkeypox in Jamaica

August 12, 2022 | By Colin O. Jarrett |

Jamaica has recorded its second locally transmitted case of Monkeypox and the fourth infection from the viral disease.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness says the patient is currently isolated at home and the parish health department has commenced its contact tracing.

The patient has no recent travel history and was not in contact with the three previously announced cases.

The Government of Jamaica reminds people on the island that monkeypox can be transmitted from person-to-person by close contact with lesions, body fluids, respiratory droplets and contaminated materials.
