Jamaican Comedian Dominates in the US Market

Jamaican born US based comedian, Rohan Gunter, has been racking up the accolades since he migrated to the United States over five years ago.
 
The Florida based stand up comedian, radio presenter and TV host; started his career in Jamaica as a wedding master of ceremonies and then won the Comedy Bus Television Competition, produced by noted comedian and actor Christopher Johnny Daley, in 2006.
 
 “I was asked to MC a wedding which I knew nothing about. I researched how to do it on the  internet and it came off well to the audience. I then decided to enter  the “Comedy Buss” which I won and the rest is a mystery.” Gunter explained
 
The talented young comedian has won the International Irawma Award for Comedian of the year in 2015 as well as South Florida Entertainer of the year in 2016 and People Profile Corporate Citizen in 2017. He currently hosts the Island Mix show  on WZOP 92.7 on  Friday’s with DJ Undisputed.
 
With numerous TV hosting gigs and stand up comedy performances under his belt, Gunter also promotes His own successful comedy events in the US.
 
 “I hosted 5 consecutive Successful ‘Gigglez’ comedy shows which will go to Canada in September and returns to the US in October. Jamaican Stand up is still a work in progress and I have been pushing it through my comedy shows “Gigglez” and ” Mi Nah Laugh” which have been getting very good reviews,” Gunter added
 
Gunter would like to see more support for the Comedy Shows and comedic actors locally and overseas however.
 
Jamaicans can be regulars on the big screen,  Radio stations, game shows in the US market, creating a demand and supplying the audience with another way of enjoy the Jamaican accent and culture through laughter. it is doable with the support of the entire Caribbean community,* Gunter mused
 
Currently in the island to headline the popular Johnny LIVE Comedy Bar weekly series, on Tuesday August 7 at 100 Hope Road; Gunter is pleased with the opportunity to perform for his Jamaican fans and will be ready to give a steller international set come Tuesday night.
