Jamaican High Commission in India Officially Opens with Chris Gayle as Special Guest

New Delhi, India – The Jamaican High Commission in India celebrated its official opening on September 30, 2024, with an event that highlighted the strong ties between Jamaica and India. Among the notable attendees was the celebrated Jamaican entertainer, Chris Gayle, also known as the #UniverseBoss, whose presence added a touch of star power to the occasion.

Hon. Kamina J. Smith, the Jamaican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, expressed her delight at Gayle’s attendance, stating, “It is so great that @henrygayle could join us for the opening of the Jamaican High Commission in India! He is so well loved here and he is so deeply patriotic, it made the event that much more special.” The minister underscored the significance of Gayle’s role in fostering goodwill and promoting Jamaican culture abroad.

The event featured a display of Gayle’s iconic shots, including one that Smith proudly posed with, symbolizing the creative spirit of Jamaica. “Of course, I had to get a pic with one of his iconic shots which we have displayed in the High Commission,” she added, emphasizing the connection between art and diplomacy.
