Jamaica’s Top Traffic Cop Bishop Dr. G. Welsh Reassigned

Breaking News

Assistant Commissioner of police Bishops Dr. Gary Welsh has been transferred from PSTEP with immediate effect.  Forced to walk by bigger heads to another department.

Controversial

Bishop Welsh drew the anger of many when he allowed a confessed drag racer who was videoed doing a dangerous stunt on a very busy boulevard in Kingston Jamaica W.I last week.  Bishop Welsh the newly appointed head of Traffic said he was teaming up with the alleged stunt culprit to get a public education campaign on the way to educate the public on road safety.  He would not prosecute the suspect.

Outcry

There was considerable outcry for his action and shouts for his removal.  This was resisted until today he made a very public statement today August 27, 2019 … that was seen as if implemented could bring the police force into further disrepute.

Arrest

Policeman stops motorist without cause near to the bus terminal in Spanish Town, Jamaica W.I.

Traffic infractions of a certain nature attracts a ticket /fine.  The Goodly Bishop was proposing that instead of a ticket he would arrest/detain suspects.  The Communications Network of the police (CCU) immediately overruled the Bishop in a release to the media. Effectively pulling the rug and throwing the Top Traffic Cop under the bus.

Lawyer Williams

Attorney Clive Williams asserted that the proposed action of the Bishop Cop was illegal.  Within minutes after this utterance by Lawyer Williams another release was issued saying Bishop Welsh was reassigned with immediate effect.

The Bishop was removed from his position with immediate effect.

Commentary

We will comment at length in the near future on these dramatic developments.  It looks untidy to say the least. A very public slap in the face for Bishop Dr. Gary Welsh, assistant Commissioner of police.
