Jays claim outfielder Lake off waivers, sign five pitchers to minor league deals

TORONTO _ The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed outfielder Junior Lake off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles

Lake appeared in 29 games last season for the Chicago Cubs and Orioles batting .200 with a home run and five runs batted in.

In parts of three seasons, the six-foot-three, 215-pound right-handed hitter from San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic has posted a .237 average with 16 home runs, 46 RBIs and 15 stolen bases.

The Blue Jays also announced that they have agreed to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training camp with right-handed pitchers Scott Copeland, Roberto Hernandez and Brad Penny and lefties Wade LeBlanc and Pat McCoy.
