Jonnah hopes for greater success … following his crowning as Magnum King of Dancehall

Unlike some of the other winners in the six years of Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall, this year’s male winner, Jonnah, says he is determined to make his mark in the dancehall industry.

Speaking with THE STAR recently, Jonnah said he released a music video for the single Limit Is The Sky last week, and has collaborated with dancehall artiste Darrio for Don’t Stop Till Yuh Reach.

He also explained that he is hell-bent on not becoming complacent.

“Mi nah go end up like some of the others. Mi nah put myself in a comfortable spot. Mi always a push and mi have a good team (Multi Music record label) a work wid. Mi always a put out music and music videos. I am putting in the work so I don’t end up like the others,” he said, noting that he also had a music video for This Morning.

And while many new artistes complain about how difficult it is to break into the music industry, Jonnah says he was prepared for what was to come.

“It challenging, but it’s nice and it show yuh seh yuh nuh fi give up at anytime. You have to keep going till it get better,” he told THE STAR.

He said oftentimes selectors refuse to play his songs and “will play the artistes that they know already, until we start get hot too. And you have whole heap of new artistes weh bad like miself, so I just have to keep putting out music weh different.”

While thanking the general public for supporting him throughout the competition, Jonnah says fans can get updates about him on his YouTube page, as well as Facebook and Twitter. He said persons can also look out for his new song, Jaguar X Type.
