With the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season on June 1, historic Hurricane Agatha, the first of the eastern Pacific Season touched down in Mexico’s southern coast Monday at 4PM.
It landed West of Puerto Angel with maximum sustained winds of 105MPH.
The National Hurricane Centre says this is the earliest a Category 2 storm has made landfall along Mexico’s Pacific Coast.
Up to 20 inches of rain was forecast for some areas with heavy rains predicted to lash the island all day Tuesday. Preparations are been made right across the area for the Atlantic Hurricane Season.
Monday, #Agatha became the strongest May #hurricane to strike Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Its remnant may help spawn a Gulf #tropical depression or storm late this week.
