Kabaka Pyramid Release New Single feat. Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley ‘Kontraband’ Album Set To Release Friday
New York , New York (May 22, 2018) Kabaka Pyramid has released his new single, Kontraband, featuring Grammy Award winning artist Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley. The title single ‘Kontraband‘ is from his upcoming debut album KONTRABAND, slated to release Friday, May 25th via Bebble Rock & Ghetto Youth International.
Off his debut album Kontraband, the hard hitting Reggae track is infectiously catchy, with the strong chorus “I’m Way Up, Kontraband” being repeated, selectively throughout the single. Both artists go back and forth giving a vivid description of the trials and fight as they try to spread the music ‘Kontraband’ to the masses. They describe the constant obstacles placed before them and share the many ways they defeat the system in order to spread the potent lyrics they are calling ‘Kontraband’.
“In the world today, I feel that the music that is spreading a positive message an enlightening message, message that will uplift and empower the people is being silenced. Them fi know we not going to stop spread that type of music, no matter how un-popular it is, if we haffi push it like a Kontraband that we plan fi do” says Kabaka Pyramid.
The collaboration on this single was an authentic one, which came about during a studio session with Kabaka Pyramid and Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley. “As you may know, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley is the executive producer of the album and played a big part in the album process and was hands with the creative side of production. So we a hold a vibe one day inna the studio and the thought just come to we and the rest is history.” says Kabaka Pyramid
The 16-track album, which is set to release Friday May 25th hosts a major selection of artists who collaborated with Kabaka Pyramid creating the collective whole Kontraband. The list includes some impressive names such as; Chronixx Blessed is the Man, Protojé ‘Everywhere I Go’, Akon on Africans Arise, Pressure Busspipe on the single ‘Make Way’, Stonebwoy on the single ‘Borders’, and Australian musician Nattali Rize on the bonus single ‘All I Need’.
With a North American tour schedule to commence June 3 through July, and a European tour schedules for August, Kabaka Pyramid is prepared to spread the musical Kontraband to the masses.
Kabaka Pyramid launches the album Kontraband with fans in Kingston on Friday May 25 at the Bob Marley Museum ahead of upcoming tours of North America as well as Europe for the summer festival season. Fans can attend free of cost to mark this milestone with the musical transformative energy that is Kabaka Pyramid.
