Kalmunity Announces Their 13th Annual Black History Month Celebrations

Kalmunity Vibe Collective in association with Cafe Campus, Resonance Cafe and IMSOOMG is proud to present our 13th annual Black History Month Celebration Series. The series will be featuring unique themes highlighting black creators, innovators, legends & revolutionaries throughout the month of February.

Our weekly series kicks off on Sunday February 3rd at Cafe Resonance with a special tribute to Dub Reggae featuring live and direct from New York on his Genre Fluid tour, K’Coneil. K’Coneil’s E.P made its debut on the reggae billboard charts last year.

On February 12th (Resonance) the collective churns out improvised compositions inspired by the sounds of Afro Beat and on February 14th (Petit Campus) we have our 1st Valentines day soul music special, celebrating and exploring Black Love.

Sunday, February 19th (Resonance) brings us to the Caribbean as we bask in the essence of Tropical Jazz while Tuesday, February 21st (Petit Campus) the emcees come out to play for the JAMES BROWN HIP HOP REVIVAL, a hip hop night featuring classics from the 80’s and 90’s that sampled the best of the Godfather of Soul.

Finally, of February 26th (Resonance) Kalmunity brings you The Ode To the Black Panther Party leading to our grand finale at Petit Campus on February 28th when we revive the works of the late great poet, author and musician GIL SCOTT HERON through word and music.

Kalmunity is bringing to you a month filled with vibes that are not to be missed. Sunday nights kick off at 9:00pm and Tuesdays at 8:30pm. Admission for both nights are $10.
