Jamaican Tech Leader Lloyd Carney Named Among Top U.S. Corporate Directors for 2025

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Prime Minister Andrew Holness has extended congratulations to Mr. Lloyd Carney, a distinguished Jamaican technology executive and investor, who has been ranked #73 on the Wall Street Journal’s list of the 250 most influential and effective corporate directors projected to serve on S&P 500 boards in 2025.

The honour places Lloyd Carney among a globally elite group of leaders recognized for shaping the future of global enterprise.

“This international recognition affirms what we already know — that Jamaican excellence is limitless,” Holness stated in a public tribute shared via X (formerly Twitter).

Carney, who currently serves as Chancellor of the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTECH) since 2022 and as Ambassador/Special Investment Envoy for Technology since 2023, has long been celebrated for bridging global innovation with Jamaican development.

With an impressive track record in technology leadership, including roles in Silicon Valley and the international investment community, Carney’s influence continues to open new doors for Jamaica’s tech and education sectors.

“Mr. Carney’s visionary leadership in global technology and investment is matched only by his steadfast commitment to Jamaica,” Holness added.

The Prime Minister’s message highlights Carney’s dual role — not only as a boardroom leader in global markets, but also as a champion of national innovation and opportunity.
