Suspect Arrested Under Cyber Crimes Act

A man who threatened his estranged lover with death on social media.  Malicious Communication law which has been referred to in Vision Newspaper Canada before is again being applied here. The law enforcement officials have been very active prosecuting social media hate speech and threats.  They take those matters very seriously.  The internet is not a do as you like medium in Jamaica as it seems to exist elsewhere.

Female Vendor Provokes

Reports that two vendors had a dispute over vending space. It is further alleged that the female threw certain things at or on the male which provoked a response from the male.  He responded with deadly force by using a machete to chop her on her forehead based on media reports.  The incident was caught on video and went viral.  This caught the notice of the police who has since arrested the male suspect who attacked his colleague with the machete as stated above.  He now faces the criminal courts for wounding.

Commentary

We need to walk away if you cannot discuss out your differences. Resorting to violence is not acceptable.  Let us be more civil in our interactions. Violence is a dumb way to settle disputes. Ganging up to attack your perceived enemy is totally wrong. Do not resort to such barbaric type of behaviour.
