Marcia Griffiths Live On Radio After 57 years In The Music Industry

The queen of music Marcia Griffiths, an internationally acclaimed artiste was interviewed by Empress Golding, an entrepreneur, radio, TV host, mother and wife. The programme is labeled “Every Woman”.  The longevity of Marcia Griffiths who performed with the late Superstar The Honourable Robert Nesta Marley, ON who has been internationally recognized as a prolific reggae ambassador.  Marley died of cancer at age 36. Today February 5, he would have been 76 years old.  It was an interesting interview.

The phone lines were opened up to the public and many calls including Honourable Olivia “Babsy”

Grange also called in and congratulated superstar Marcia Griffiths on being gracious and for her contribution to the music industry.  There were other callers including the undersigned Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie called who also called in to congratulate Marcia Griffiths on her service to the music industry.

HO’C-D: What do you attribute to your longevity in the music industry?

MG: A positive outlook on life.  Many die early because of their outlook on life.

HO’C-D: Do you plan to retire?

MG: “I plan to not to so do. Sing as long as possible.”

HO’O-D: Do you have any new albums on the horizon?

Yes, I do

What upsets you?

MG: When people are not honest.

“It is the message that we send to our children. They should use the music to teach the lesson.”

Marcia Griffiths has been in the music industry for 57 years.

MG: We have a little sugar, a little spice and coffee. We have everything in the music. Continue to do this and your energy.  Continue to keep the fire burning.

You bring joy and happiness ..

I don’t believe in doing wrong. Why do they try to keep me down .  Cry and shame all over the place. Tell me why.  Do not try to take my place Them too late. I am a peaceful woman who don’t believe in doing wrong.  Equality and justice, stop the lie.

MG: “I wanna be closer to you, you make my day … I don’t know why when you come around …  I do silly things when you come around. I wanna be sweeter to you. I don’t know what make me feel this way.”

Continuing, the internationally acclaimed music ambassador Marcia Griffiths said:

Eddie Seaga’s vision.

“The Itrees singing group was formed in 1974. I recall my days at Chocomo Lawn. Eddie Seaga was the first person to put me on a stage.  It was on a truck back aka makeshift stage in Western Kingston.  This launched my career.  I did not meet Olivia “Babsy” Grange then, but she has done a lot and has been a fine example of womanhood.

Fashionistas.

“I have always dressed fashionable. It does not have to cost a lot. I always cover my head with a wrap.

“I just wrap a piece of fabric around my slender build.  My love for fashion was influenced by my grandmother who was a seamstress.

Commentary

Marcia Griffiths has three sons and and appears to be highly supportive of family life.  She has maintained a good image in the entertainment industry.  She has also has an evergreen appearance and we could add forever young.  Having performed with the likes of Robert Nesta Marley  and his backup group Itrees, she is very experienced and must have been exceptional to be on such a stage.

 Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie is a veteran journalist who has a keen interest in entertainment. He is a poet and elegist  He also has International exposure.
