Michael Coteau Highlights the Impact of the Canada Child Benefit

Toronto, Canada – The Honourable Michael Coteau, Member of Parliament for Don Valley East, took to social media today to emphasize the continued positive impact of the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) program on families across the country. In a tweet posted at 6:17 AM on September 20, 2024, Coteau highlighted that the CCB is making a difference for more than 3.5 million families and over 6 million children nationwide.

The Canada Child Benefit, a tax-free monthly payment designed to assist families with the cost of raising children, has been indexed to inflation, helping families cope with the rising cost of living. According to Coteau, families are now eligible to receive up to $7,787 per child under six years of age and $6,570 per child aged 6 to 17.

“Helping parents meet rising costs and support their kids,” Coteau stated in his tweet, using hashtags #CCB and #HelpingFamilies to underline the program’s role in easing financial pressures on households.

The Canada Child Benefit, first introduced in 2016, remains a cornerstone of the federal government’s support system for families. With inflationary adjustments built into the program, the benefit provides relief as the costs of food, housing, and other necessities continue to climb. By focusing on the needs of low- and middle-income families, the CCB ensures that the most vulnerable households receive the highest level of support.

Coteau’s tweet has already garnered over 2,000 views and continues to gain traction as Canadians engage in discussions about how the CCB is making a difference in their lives.

As economic challenges persist, government officials like Coteau are reaffirming their commitment to programs like the Canada Child Benefit that provide essential support to families and children across the country.
