With mosquito bourne diseases on the rise and with the deadly nuisance constantly on the prowl … the Andrew Holness led JLP government decided to focus this year’s clean up in Portmore, a dormitory community of over 100,000 inhabitants.

Swamp

It is a known fact that Portmore, St. Catherine was a swamp and was dump up and land reclaimed from the sea through dredging. There have been 5 confirmed cases of the deadly ZickV cases. So far there have been 9 confirmed cases in Jamaica so far. With this undisputed fact the JLP government has rightly decided to concentrate in this highly populated area.

We hope this will put a dent in the mosquito breeding spots.

PM Andrew Michael Holness has stated that the “mosquito is the deadliest creature on earth killing more than a million persons worldwide.”
