MixmasterJ Lights Up Tanzania’s Reggae Dub Club on ‘Music is the Mission’ Tour
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — Award-winning UK-based DJ and broadcaster MixmasterJ delivered an unforgettable night of reggae, dub, and culture at Reggae Dub Club, the signature event series presented by Maisha Beach.
The Tanzania stop of his ongoing Music is the Mission tour brought together reggae lovers for an evening that combined exclusive tracks, Jamaican folklore, and MixmasterJ’s trademark wit and charm.
“My goal was to give people an evening of music and talk they can’t get anywhere else. I’m glad everyone had a great time,” MixmasterJ said following the show.
A Riveting Performance
Sharing the stage with Lalibela International Sound System, MixmasterJ showcased a set steeped in roots reggae and dub traditions. Attendees were treated to selections from Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Badda General, Lady Da Flame, and YT, with both sounds uniting under the mantra of uplifting souls through music.
Ras Kunta, a key figure behind Maisha Beach’s Dub Club productions, praised the performance: “MixmasterJ’s set was riveting. People listened to every song selected and every word said. The definite highlight for me was the phone call from the artist Phil Watkis. That took his musicology and presentation to another level!”
Beyond the Dub Club
The tour stop in Tanzania was one of many milestones in MixmasterJ’s Music is the Mission journey. Shortly after, he performed at the wedding of UK property leaders Lisa and Paul Chin, before preparing for his next major appearance at Boomtown Festival in Hampshire, UK, on August 8, 2025, where he will play alongside selector Navigator.
