Moonie speaks out in Kartel’s defence
…’Him (the deejay) wouldn’t so foolish to have stuff in him cell’
Dancehall fashion designer and former stylist for Vybz Kartel, Calvin ‘Moonie’ Haye, has dispelled the latest allegations concerning the embattled deejay.
As investigators intensify their investigations into the murder of popular music producer Patrick Samuels, otherwise called ‘Roach’, according to reports from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), police intelligence led them to carry out a search of the cell occupied by Adidja Palmer, otherwise called Vybz Kartel.
The CCN reports that, on Sunday, detectives seized two cellular phones and three thumb drives from the cell occupied by Palmer. The cell of Garfield Vassell, otherwise called ‘Zebra’, was also searched and the officers seized a sim card, as well as a piece of paper containing instructions purportedly written by a popular entertainer.
On Monday, the lawmen went back to the prison and during further searches, one DVD player and an apple iPod were taken from the cell of Palmer and a DVD player seized from the cell of Shawn Campbell, otherwise called ‘Shawn Storm’.
The items taken from the cells will now be analysed for evidential purposes in the police’s search for clues as they seek to find the perpetrators behind the murder of Samuels.
However, according to Haye, “Him (Kartel) wouldn’t so foolish to have stuff in him cell. I was in that position too and we never had anything like that.”
Adding, “Sometimes they find other things in the cell and other inmates get blamed through popularity. If they find something on the block they are going to say is that person.”
In late July, Kartel was found not guilty of the murder of St Catherine businessman Barrington ‘Bossy’ Burton.
He is to return to the Home Circuit Court in November for trial in relation to the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder case.
