National Heritage Week 2024 Theme Announced: ‘One Love, One People, One Heritage’

Kingston, Jamaica – The Honourable Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, has officially announced the theme for National Heritage Week 2024 as “One Love, One People, One Heritage.” The announcement, made on September 13, has already sparked excitement as Jamaicans prepare to observe this significant celebration from October 14 to October 21, culminating on National Heroes Day.

The theme, rooted in the iconic message of unity popularized by reggae legend Bob Marley, resonates deeply with the nation’s cultural identity. Minister Grange highlighted that the theme reflects the importance of coming together as one people to celebrate Jamaica’s shared heritage, values, and history.

The week-long celebration will feature a series of activities, including cultural performances, historical exhibitions, and community events. The Ministry will work alongside schools, churches, and local organizations to bring the spirit of unity and heritage to every corner of Jamaica.

National Heroes Day, which will be observed on October 21, serves as the culmination of the week. On this day, the nation will honour its national heroes and modern-day trailblazers, recognizing their contributions to Jamaica’s development and culture.

As the country gears up for this important week, citizens are encouraged to participate in events and reflect on the legacy of those who fought for Jamaica’s freedom, culture, and progress.
