NCB Jamaica lost approximately 18 million dollars in a fraud attack
May 27, 2022 | Colin O. Jarrett | One person has been arrested after several customers of National Commercial Bank, NCB Jamaica lost approximately 18 million dollars in a smishing and phishing fraud attack over the last 10 days.
Manager of Special Investigations at the Fraud Prevention Unit at the largest commercial bank in Jamaica Dane Nicholson confirmed the development. He says the internal systems at the bank are safe.
He further explained that customers are being asked to click on links sent. Such as text or email disguised as NCBs of which the scammers capture the personal information that the customers input.
National Commercial Bank, NCB, says there’s no guarantee that customers who were fleeced of some $18-million in the last 10 days by fraudsters, will be reimbursed by the bank. The customers lost their monies through ‘vishing’ and ‘smishing’ schemes.https://t.co/CpTs07G5WW
