Ode To Prosperity
Photo: Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie, poet, satirist is author of this work of poetry on St. Thomas, in the East, his native birth Parish in Jamaica W. I.
St. Thomas is a great Parish …
Under the 1865 war many did perish
There was a massacre …
The Militia killed to their desire
Houses were deliberately set ablaze
They were likely in a destruction phase
Hate and revenge was certainly the plan
Alas! Motivated by Satan?
Historians discovered this fact …
Not hidden under any rock …
Alas! This was atrocious … for you & me
Never to be viewed with any glee
Let us with one Accord …
Leave hurt in the hands of Our Lord
Wrongs for all to see …
Forgiveness will set us free …
St. Thomas to get South Coast hi way
Will this open up prosperity … the ray?
This break-through is long overdue
No one can stop what for you … is due
No longer shall it be seen as left behind…
With remarks, Oh so unkind …
Let us be patient and be calm …
Recent plans point to a shot in the arm
Will the Town Centre, soon be a reality?
This could be the gateway to prosperity
PM Holiness certified this plan as real…
So it is certainly not surreal …
Amen!
