KINGSTON, Jamaica _ Usain Bolt has been removed from a list of competitors for the 100 metres at the Jamaica championships, apparently the latest setback for the world record-holder.

The six-time Olympic gold medallist was due to compete in the 100 in Kingston to sharpen his form against speedsters such as Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell. Bolt is assured of a spot in the world championships in August in Beijing to defend his 100 and 200 titles.

But Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association officials said on Thursday that Bolt’s name was withdrawn, without elaborating. The 100 final is scheduled for Friday.

Coach Glen Mills and other members of Bolt’s management team did not respond to calls and emails seeking clarification on Thursday.

Bolt was slowed by injuries last year, and his performances have been unremarkable so far this season.
