On Wednesday Jan. 20, 2021 Biden/Harris Will Take The Oath

January 18, 2021 | By Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie |

My throat is already choking up with emotion from pride as I await that moment in time when “Sleepy Joe” as Trump rudely terms to the incoming president of the United States Of America (USA). Joseph R. Biden the 46th President-Elect. I am counting down the hours as a child would anticipate the coming of  Christmas.  The wait is not too long now. After Monday just another day and a half.

My Toast

Kamala Harris will be my toast. She has Jamaican and Caribbean roots and we are supposed to be patriotic people. Biden is my guy, of course,  but Harris deserves my toast on this occasion. She radiates confidence and our teal hope for the future. Don’t forget that Biden is 78.

Kamala Harris A Fierce Debater

Kamala is 55.  She is in the prime of her life and already reached the pinnacle of her life’s goal.  She may have surpassed her own expectations. There is nothing like preparation and industry. Kamala is a fierce and capable debater and no push over.  The Republicans all know that fact, they have been in verbal battles with her and she has demolished them. Kamala does her homework and is very assertive.  She will not be intimidated by those folks who like to put down folks of colour. Especially if you are a woman. She will be the most powerful woman in the US even more than Nancy Pelosi who is chair of the House.  Nancy is no push over either.  Pelosi is also like Biden in her late seventies. The Democrats have a winning team.

All persons of colour must celebrate this Kamala’s achievement.  Kamala is a professional Lawyer like Biden, a real career individual in her own right. Let us never forget that.

Kamala Harris therefore has earned the right to be VP.  She has been a prosecutor and elected Senator. We are so proud of her. She is a super achiever.

Personal

Denah Dennie

My daughters and you all must beam with great pride. We have daughters. Let us never fail to tell our girls how proud we are of them.  Make sure your daughter is seated before that TV at about 12 noon when the Oath is being administered from Washington, DC,  United States Of America. Just check the time zone.  It is a moment in time she must not miss. I never thought I would live to see. this truly historic event when a female of colour rise to such heights in American politics.

Today Sunday 17th January 2021 is my first daughter’s birthday Denah. We congratulate her on this milestone. She is a delightful, dignified and loving soul.

BML

Let us celebrate and remember that Black Lives Matter ( BLM). Let Trump and his white Supremacist friends go to hell.  Joe may be sleepy,  but he is well respected and loved.  We are proud of his dignity.

“Racism is an affront to decency”

Hitler was so wrong. There is no super race. We are all equal under the sight of God. Same blood runs in our veins. We dream and love our families all the same. We want the best for them.
