Ontario Workers Don’t Need Finger Pointing They Need Paid Sick Days Now

NORTH YORK – Ontario Liberal Labour Critic Michael Coteau, responded to Minister Monte McNaughton––who’s letter to federal Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion Carla Qualtrough blamed the federal government for Ontario’s lack of paid sick days.

“If the Minister really wants to help workers and ensure they have immediate access to sick days, he needs to move quickly and not waste time blaming others. Employees need to be able to quarantine at home when they are at risk of having COVID-19” said Coteau.

The Ford Government is sitting on $6.4 million of unspent COVID relief money from the federal government––more than any other province in Canada.

“This jurisdictional finger pointing is ridiculous”, Coteau stated.

“The issue needs to be resolved now and the Minister has the resources and power to do it. We’ve been talking about this for months now. It needs to get done.”
