Penalty Recordings Is Relaunching

Famed hip-hop record label, now Penalty Entertainment, was founded in 1994 and is being relaunched under a new multi-year deal with Sony RED.

Penalty is notable for housing artists like Noreaga and CNN, The Beatnuts, Crooked Lettaz and Lord Finesse amongst others. And much like the label’s former roster, CEO Neil Levine is seeking producers, rappers, musicians and songwriters who possess the power of longevity.

“We’re focused on artist development, talented new producers and musicians who will be here many years down the road,” says Levine to AllHiphop. “We want the superstars of tomorrow, today.”

Levine’s brand new deal with RED, a nifty business venture that will allow him to operate Penalty Entertainment as an independent entity with major-label backing/distribution, is part of a bigger goal, one aiming to discover the best hip-hop acts Sony RED can distribute and market.

Penalty Entertainment has already inked deals with Fort Lauderdale rapper, Hi-Rez and EMC featuring Masta Ace, Punchline, Wordsworth and Strick.
