Perspective: Comish Not Reporting To PSC … INDECOM’s Williams ….

News Round Up …

Successive Commissioners of Police have not been reporting Senior Police Officers who have been reported for misconduct by INDECOM to them. The Police Services Commission (PSC) is the body set up by law to appoint, promote, discipline and dismiss these senior officers referred to by the Police High Command from the level of inspector up. (for misconduct) etc.

INDECOM

INDECOM in turn reports directly to Parliament these inaction like breaches and so on.  Was this one of the stripes held against the former commissioner?

It should be noted that INDECOM is a creature of parliament. Like the DPP and the OCG to name a few such bodies who report directly to parliament by statute.

Commentary

We are grateful to INDECOM for disclosing this to us. This unfortunate pattern of behaviour speaks volumes of the attitude within the JCF leadership over the years. It is this apparent type of poor motivation and fear of any repercussion if there is indiscipline … that has permeated the JCF leadership for far too long. Today after 150+ years (1867-2017) the best that can happen for them for the third time a commissioner has been selected from outside their ranks to lead them.  This is retired JDF CDS Major General Antony Anderson, today March 19, 2018 the new Commissioner of Police takes office to fill the vacancy left by the dismissal/departure after only nine months of George Quallo. What a shame!

Vacancies

There are two clear vacancies at level of Deputy Commissioners to be filled by the PSC/Commissioner immediately. Novelette Grant, and another who does not come to mind at this time.

The Commissioner said the JCF was not designed to be undisciplined.  The retired Major General Antony Anderson now
Commissioner of Police was speaking to the media on the first day of his taking over as police chief of the JCF.

Are you ready for the job and no official installation?

“If I was not ready and up to the task, I would not have taken over as commissioner of police. My intention is to move the JCF to be trustworthy.  The pomp and pageantry is good, but the force is heavily deployed at this time. To do a proper installation would mean taking people away from the field for rehearsals, so it can be well executed. Public disorder, gangs, guns and

Transportation Turmoil … crime related …..

JATOO

Barton calls for long term crime plan.

TODDS

Another player in the transport sector. Edgerton Newman has asked them to be vigilant as criminals find safe haven on JUTC buses.

We wish the commissioner well and hope to see a reduction in crime.
