Perspective: Environmental Restoration in Central St. Catherine, Ja. W.I.

The Tawes Pen area is known for its multi-Level Condominiums and is a JLP stronghold in Spanish Town, the former historic capital founded in 1534 by the Spanish.  Jamaica and by extension Spanish Town was captured by the British in 1655.

The capital of Jamaica has since been moved to Kingston, also renowned historically and
internationally acclaimed and was recently placed in the top 24 places to visit in 2017. There is a serious attempt to clean up this section of the old capital.  MP Olivia “Babsy” Grange has said her dream is to see the place sparkling. This deam has started and we saw drains being cleaned and garbage being carted away when we visited.

Minister Grange is fully aware of rhe impact of a clean and safe environment.   As Culture Minister she is very conscious of the role a healthy environment has on a society.   Culture reflects a way of life and mirrors a society’s lifestyle.

We support her efforts and congratulate her on this initiative.
