Perspective: President Trump has blocked the sale of the chip firm INTEL to Broadcom on security concerns.

It was a US$140 million deal.

Trump is of the view that the take over will mean that sensitive technology data could get in the hands of the Chinese.  This is unprecedented, but goes to show that a deal is not consummated until the “fat lady” sings.  There will be no singing in a hurry, it appears …. if Trump has his way.

Perspective

Legal Challenge

It is not immediately known if a legal challenge will be mounted to Trump’s action.  The USA is a country that is litigious.  People do not take things lying down easily. Can this decision be overturned by a court of law?  We have to wait and see. Interesting times ahead.

Protectionist

Americans are becoming more protectionist …Trump signalled this at his inauguration. He said “America First” . Did you forget? We will sit at the edge of our seats and wait to see what unfolds.

Canada

Canada et al need to stand on guard as a more protectionist White House is not good for cross border sale of certain goods. It could mean that American jobs must not leave America.  Full stop!

“Parson christen him pickney first” … a Jamaican saying in patois. “Pickney” means child (children) when translated into standard English.
