Boris Johnson Resigns

The UK PM has being herded out … he is in has final hours

As the crisis deepens in the Commons in Britain, Boris Johnson is clinging on to power in the face of strong opposition from his own party members the Tory aka Conservative Party.

There have been mass resignations from Johnson’s Cabinet. This is stuff we normally see in movies playing out before our eyes in real time.

Genesis Of Discontent

In this summer of discontent unlike what Charles Dickens ever imagined in his famous book “The Tales of Two Cities.”

A senior associate was accused of sexual misconduct. Johnson is accused of indifference for promoting the member despite knowing of the sexual misconduct allegations prior to the associate’s promotion to a more senior position in his government.

Johnson’s action has prompted his close and hitherto close associates to resign mostly en bloc from his Cabinet and government generally. Some have resigned one by one. To date 44 top government official including his Finance Minister aka Chancellor of the Exchequer. This is a record set of resignations in a day. Theresa May had 40 resign against her in one day. Johnson has topped that record at 44. Also his Health Secretary or Health Minister, and Home Secretary (National Security Minister). as they are known as in Jamaica and elsewhere in the Caribbean and in many Commonwealth countries have also left Johnson’s government.

Threading a line between integrity …

The majority Opposition Leader Sir. Cramer said the PM should go now instead of hanging on. He said inter alia:

Lies, fraud and dishonesty … characterized his time in office as Prime Minister. He should go now and not hang on to power.

World Reaction

Russia

World leaders have been reacting to PM Boris Johnson’s demise. The Russian government has been critical of the role played by Johnson as it relates to Russia.

“He did not like us and we also do not like him either. We hope we will be able to work with Johnson’s replacement.”

Ukrainian Leader

“Johnson was a great friend of Ukraine … we hate to see him go …”

We are not surprised at the Russian reaction due to the position taken by Britain in the invasion of Ukraine against Russia. Britain sent military equipment to Ukraine. The Russians would naturally frown on this action by Britain.

Commentary

Integrity still means something in politics. Boris Johnson had to go as he has been caught being dishonest. He has to resign. So sad after just 3 years in office.
