Perspective: Trudeau Optimistic on NAFTA Talks …

US drops demand that 50 percent of parts for the auto industry must be secured from the USA. This is a huge break for Canada.

There is renewed optimism that the talks will end soon. Trump does not want it to drag to mid-term as election is due, and Mexico has upcoming elections. All seem to need something but time they all don’t have on their side. Compromises will have to be made by all parties.

All want cheap labour from Mexico and Mexico needs the trade dollars and an outlet for workers to go to.

This is all interestingly poised.

We have to wait and see.
