The Prime Minister highlighted a number of accomplishments that have shaped his administration’s agenda, including investments in renewable energy, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. A key component of this plan has been the introduction of solar power initiatives and upgrades to the national electricity grid, reflecting the government’s push for sustainability.
Davis also pointed out the importance of holding partners accountable, noting that his government has challenged the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) to fulfill their obligations in Freeport. This issue has been the subject of ongoing discussions, as the government seeks to ensure equitable development across the islands.
“We’re bringing in solar power and upgrading our electricity grid; we’re challenging the Grand Bahama Port Authority to live up to their obligations as a partner in Freeport,” Davis stated.
The administration has also raised the national minimum wage and signed 33 labor agreements, demonstrating its commitment to improving working conditions for Bahamians. Furthermore, the country has successfully been removed from international blacklists, a significant milestone in restoring financial credibility on the global stage.
The Prime Minister also celebrated record-breaking tourism numbers and the attraction of billions in new investments across various sectors, including agriculture, as part of efforts to diversify the economy.
Despite these successes, Davis expressed disappointment with the opposition, accusing them of downplaying the progress that has been made. He suggested that their criticism is undermining the hard work being done by ordinary Bahamians.
“It has been disappointing to see the Opposition so determined to ignore our country’s progress, instead of celebrating it. They almost appear to be rooting for bad news,” he remarked.
Davis ended his message with a call for unity, urging Bahamians to continue their collective efforts for national advancement. “Onward and upward, together!” he concluded.
The tweet garnered a significant response, with hundreds of views and engagement from Bahamians across the islands, reflecting widespread interest in the government’s achievements and ongoing challenges.
