PM-Designate Holness Meets Director Of Elections

Andrew Holness

As Jamaicans eagerly await the outcome of the recount of ballots to certify the General Elections just concluded in this fledgling democracy of 1.8 million electors. There is a population of 2.5 million persons.

Holness met with the Director of Elections and advised him of the need to speed up the process of recounting/certifying the results so he can form the Government.

Recall Of J$60 Million SUVs

In a statement Senator Mark Golding outgoing Justice Minister PNP has criticized Holness for being “revengeful” for asking ex-ministers to return these vehicles. It was an established policy to offer for sale these used vehicles. In the case of Jamaica most of these vehicles are just about 3 years old. A SUV unless severely abused has a shelf life of about 10 years.

In a tough economy where there has been little or no growth and you have no cash you cannot continue to live in luxury. As former JLP PM Seaga stated “You need cash to care”.

Some former ministers have begun returning their SUVs and diplomatic passports.

Mark Golding

 Crazy

Senator Mark Golding had said to the effect anyone who did not support the PNP’s reelection was “crazy.” Observers were outraged by Golding’s comment.

Swearing in of a new JLP government is expected for tomorrow March 1, 2016.
