“Andrew Michael Holness will be sworn in as Jamaica’s 9th Prime Minister at King’s House the official residence of the Governor General, Jamaica’s Head of State … a legacy of our Colonial past.

Holness 43 has been given a second chance to serve as Prime Minister having assumed this position after the sudden resignation of then JLP PM Bruce Golding in 2007.

The final seat count is 32 JLP and 31 PNP. Making a total seat count with an uneven number of 63. Close but workable according to former PM Bruce Golding.

Campaign

Offer of tax break for the PAYE worker earning under J$1.5 will pay no income tax may have been the drawing card that made the JLP attractive to the under pressure consumer. The devaluing dollar also paid a role in the rejection of the PNP.

The PNP ran a 1920 old style campaign that did not connect with the younger social network/ computer savvy type electorate. Some 38, 000 new voters came on to the voter’s lost based on our continuous registration exercise. They went on personal attack of the JLP Leader. The plan appears to have been to demonize the leadership of the JLP. Holness’ “mansion” was the campaign plan. Was it?.

The JLP focused on the issues and that seem to be what the electorate ordered.

Vision wishes the new PM and the JLP allvthe success.
