PNP Appoints Unity Team

Will Peter Bunting Rise to unite the PNP?

Newly minted President of the 82 year old People’s National Party (PNP) has confirmed the appointment of a six member Unity Team. “Lisa was asked to name three members and I appointed three persons.” Persons with mediation skills will be a part of the Unity Team.”

“Responding to a question as to the role Lisa Hanna will play. The Opposition Leader declared that defeated presidential candidate Lisa Hanna has decided “To Focus on her Constituency”.  Lisa has indicated that she is stepping aside also as party Treasurer.  You will recall that Lisa won her Southeast St. Ann seat by only 32 votes.  By the “skin of her teeth” you may say.

Bunting Rises

Peter Bunting is being considered favourably for a Senate appointment. So stated Mark Golding head of the PNP in an interview on radio monitored by Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie.  Bunting having been gutted by Rhoda Moy Crawford seems destined to rise from the ashes like the proverbial phoenix.  He had a devastatingly rude awakening when a relatively unknown entity out foxed him and “out voted him in what was regarded a relatively safe Central Manchester seat.  Her metieoric rise stunned the most hardened political pundits. Bunting’s narrow loss of 76 votes to Dr. Peter Phillips was a most devastating blow to his ambition to be PNP president.  He seems to have been a key figure in his close associate’s victory for the presidency of the PNP, MP Mark Golding on November 7, 2020.  He initially was seen by many as a most unlikely candidate.  Viewed by many as lacking charisma and superior oratory skills. Yet, the delegates gave him the nod.

To Be Rewarded

Bunting is most likely to be rewarded with a Senate appointment. A safe seat may be found for him to allow the former parliamentarian to re-enter parliament as a MP.  Bunting has a brilliant mind … corruption free and applies himself well. He deserves to rise like a muffin in a oven or a donut at Starbucks or Tim Hortons with all the favourite coatings in the world. Will Peter Bunting Rise to unite the PNP? Time will tell.

Fractious Bunch

The PNP or Comrades as they call themselves, have not been behaving well to each other as is expected of comrades.  They just seem to have a name, but not the nature or pedigree to back it up.  They backbite, back stab and badmouth each other and they don’t seem to know when to call it quits.

Freedom Of Speech

They call it freedom of speech and that they are exercising their democratic right to freedom of expression. For me it is indiscipline and low level behaviour. In short they are out of control and seem by and large to lack class.  Their symbol is the head, Are they using their heads though?  The JLP was portrayed as rabble rousers and classless. Not so anymore. The tables have turned. The PNP was seen as attracting the inteligencias in our society. The thinkers and professional class. The JLP on the other hand, seem to have attracted the blue collar types. The machete welding class who cut the cane, drove the buses, work the machines and engage in higlering for a living. Some would call them the lumpen prolletariat. This recruiting has changed. An equal amount of professional members make up the JLP.  The landscape as it relates to brains is about level in both parties.

Late Item Of News

We have been reliably informed that MP Phillip Paulwell,  Former Senator KD Knight and Senator Donna Scott-Mottley all three selected by Lisa Hanna. Dr. Dayton Campbell, Dr. Angela Brown Burke and Patricia Duncan Sutherland selected by Hon. Mark Golding, Opposition Leader. A separate set with expertise in mediation will complete the Unity Team.

Perspective

It is by further perspective that we need a strong opposition to make democracy effective. A fractious and divided PNP will not make the cut.  As is well known:  “United We Stand And Divided We Fall”. It is not only Lisa’s wall which had no steel that toppled like a deck of dominoes, but the PNP who was almost wiped out in the September 3, 2020 General Elections. Losing 49:14 to the Andrew Holness led JLP.

We wish them well. This is our perspective.  What is your perspective?
