KINGSTON, Jamaica _ Authorities in Jamaica say four inmates have escaped from a jail in the island’s northern region.

Police said in a statement Friday that one of the prisoners was caught but three remain at large. A spokeswoman said two of the fugitives are accused of rape while the third one is accused of unlawful wounding.

Authorities said the inmates cut their way through a vent in a jail in Brown’s Town in coastal St. Ann parish.
