President of the Caribbean Development Bank Visits Montserrat

The Caribbean Development Bank, the CDB continues to give full support in finding innovative solutions for countries like Montserrat that are confronted with the dual challenge of being a small state and face significant environmental hazards.

This was the message from President of the CDB Dr. Gene Leon who held discussions with Premier Joseph E. Farrell and senior officials.

The discussions were primarily focused on the Government’s economic objective and priorities and how the CDB can support through its assistance and lending programmes.

This was Dr. Leon’s first trip to Montserrat since he became the President of the CDB.  He was elected at a Special Meeting of the CDB Board of Governors held on January 19, 2021 for a five-year term, and assumed office on May 4, 2021.  Dr. Leon is the sixth President of CDB.

Montserrat is one of the founding members of Caribbean Development Bank, having joined in 1970.
