Kingston, Jamaica – Prime Minister Andrew Holness joined hundreds of Jamaicans in downtown Kingston on Sunday morning for the EU-JA 5K/10K race, an event aimed at raising awareness and standing united against violence, particularly gender-based violence.

The initiative, organized by the European Union in collaboration with Jamaica’s Ministry of National Security, brought together runners and supporters advocating for a safer and more peaceful society. The Prime Minister, who actively participated in the race, emphasized the importance of collective efforts in tackling violence across the nation.

“Violence has no place in our society, and we must continue to take a stand against it,” Holness stated in a social media post following the event. He commended the partnership between the European Union and the Jamaican government, noting that such collaborations are crucial in fostering long-term change and ensuring the safety of all citizens.

Participants from various backgrounds took part in the race, showing solidarity in the fight against violence. The event underscored the growing movement within Jamaica to address and prevent gender-based violence while promoting community involvement and awareness.

Holness expressed his appreciation for everyone who came out in support of the cause, reinforcing the message that each step taken in unity moves Jamaica closer to becoming a stronger, safer nation.
