KINGTON JAMAICA – 15 August 2016 – The atmosphere in Jamaica House was electrifying with the visit of Prime Minister of Jamaica the Most Hon Andrew Holness. Prime Minister Holness officially opened the hospitality house on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro. Dubbed #ReggaeRocksBrazil, Prime Minister Holness had high praises for the myriad of opportunities that are created for Destination Jamaica through the staging of the Jamaica House initiative.

Prime Minster Holness was joined by other officials in celebrations. The Hon Olivia Grange, Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport was equally ecstatic in her remarks regarding the staging of Jamaica House as a celebration of all things Jamaican, from music, to history, from culture to hospitality. Her Excellency Alison Stone-Roofe, Jamaica’s Ambassador to Brazil and President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, Hon Mike Fennell also had high commendations for Jamaica House —a Jamaica Tourist Board collaboration with some of the island’s most recognized brands.

The opening activities were perfectly timed as they took place shortly before the Jamaican athletes feature in the Men’s 400m semi-finals and the Women’s 100m semi-finals and finals

Jamaica House will feature top reggae artistes including I-Octane, Nature, Luciano and Kymani Marey. It will operate daily from 7:00pm to midnight until August 21 at the Jockey Club, South of Rio. Tickets to Jamaica House 2016 start at R$55 (≈US$17.50) and can be purchased at http://www.jamaicahouse.com.
