In a message shared on social media, Holness expressed his passion for improving the lives of citizens through homeownership, emphasizing the pride and dignity that come with having a place to call one’s own.
“There’s no better feeling than giving the gift of a home to a Jamaican!” Holness shared. “Pride and ambition are two of the things that describe us here in Jamaica. When we have our own home, we take pride in it! We hold our heads up a little higher, and we feel more dignified in society.”

The Prime Minister’s ongoing initiative to boost affordable housing across the island is part of his broader vision to uplift Jamaican families, many of whom have long struggled with housing insecurity. By delivering homes to those in need, Holness aims to foster a greater sense of stability and community pride.
During the handover ceremony for Ms. Francis, Holness highlighted the importance of homeownership in building a more prosperous nation, noting that when Jamaicans have secure and dignified living spaces, they are more likely to thrive and contribute positively to society. He emphasized that every Jamaican should have the opportunity to experience this sense of pride.
“This is a feeling that every Jamaican can identify with, and a feeling every Jamaican should have,” Holness added. “My mission is to accomplish that.”
The housing initiative is part of the government’s National Housing Trust (NHT) program, which seeks to expand homeownership opportunities for low- and middle-income families. Holness has made it clear that his administration is committed to building more homes and ensuring that the dream of homeownership is within reach for all Jamaicans.
As Ms. Francis receives her new home, she joins many other Jamaicans who have benefited from the government’s housing initiatives. Holness concluded his message with optimism, knowing that Ms. Francis will take pride in her new home and continue the tradition of dignity and resilience that defines Jamaica.
“We celebrate with Ms. Karen Francis and we know she will take pride in her home,” Holness said.
With ongoing efforts to meet the housing needs of citizens, the Prime Minister’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Jamaicans remains unwavering.
