The Prime Minister also used the opportunity to recognize everyday citizens, who he referred to as “unsung heroes.” He emphasized the importance of their dedication, stating that their daily actions “contribute to the strength and resilience of our nation.” These individuals, though not as celebrated as the official National Heroes, continue to make significant contributions to the country’s well-being, according to Dr. Drew.
National Heroes Day, celebrated annually on September 16, serves as a reminder of the contributions of these iconic figures who have played a pivotal role in building St. Kitts and Nevis into the thriving nation it is today. The observance honors the memory of these national figures while encouraging citizens to reflect on their own potential to contribute to the nation’s development.
The celebrations throughout the twin-island federation include various community activities and events designed to educate the younger generation about the sacrifices of those who came before them.
