Rasta Blacspade celebrates International Day of Charity by Sponsoring Fatherless Child In Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica – The International Day of Charity was celebrated worldwide on Thursday, September 5, 2024, and Jamaican-born singjay Rasta Blacspade marked the occasion by donating a Back-to-School bursary to a fatherless child in Spanish Town, Jamaica. The bursary was administered by the triple award-winning Just for Peace International, based in the Old Capital.

Eligible applicants for this bursary must reside in Spanish Town or surrounding communities, demonstrate financial need, and undergo background checks. Parents or guardians are also required to provide necessary documentation, including the child’s birth certificate and proof of acceptance to an educational institution.

The International Day of Charity commemorates the passing of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her efforts in alleviating poverty and distress, which she identified as threats to peace.

Rasta Blacspade, a finalist in the 2023 International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA), expressed his joy at being able to give back to those in need in Jamaica. He stated, “I am so happy to be helping someone in need. We know that reducing poverty can also reduce crime. Education is the foundation for building a strong and firm future leading to tertiary education and a profession. Although students are on the PATH (Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education), there are still many needs that parents or guardians cannot meet. Let us give with a willing heart.”

Dub Chemist, Rasta Blacspade’s manager and producer, commended the artist for his charitable spirit. “He’s always told me he wanted to start doing something for the children in Spanish Town, so I wasn’t surprised when it finally happened. Rasta Blacspade has a good heart, and this is reflected in his music, like his song ‘Love Over All Things.’ I hope the public will embrace these songs, which remind us to care for the less fortunate.”

Rasta Blacspade is also preparing to release his new EP, Love Over All Things, which features six tracks, including “Be Like The Sea,” “Ambition High,” “Hail Jah,” and “Highly Favour.”
