Ray Ray Market set a blaze

June 09, 2020 | By Hopeton O’Connor Dennie |

A section of Ray Ray Market set a blaze as warring factions of the underworld in West Kingston near a area known as “Lizard Town” battle for turf.

Reinforcements of heavily armed soldiers had to be called in as alleged gunmen traded bullets between themselves and pinned down if not outgunned the police. With the economy opening up contending gangs are competing for a piece of the lucrative extortion racket. Merchants in West Kingston are forced to pay protection fees to keep their businesses open. Millions of dollars are collected to fund their criminal networks.
