Tribute

As a father of girls my heart is warm at Gorman’s appointment as head of the Jamaican army. I have had the honour of speaking to her a few years ago. I was very impressed with her intellect. She was very respectful and dignified. When  she was head of the navy that we met.

Rear Admiral Antonette Wemyss Gorman

I have some excellent pictures of her taken a few years ago. I have kept them as I knew from then that she was destined for greatness.

She is very personable, bright and has class.  The army will do well under her leadership.  One of my daughters went to the same school she attended.

We have created history by the appointment of the only female head of an army in the world at this time. Vision Newspaper salutes her on her elevation.  I will publish my pictures of her when I get a chance to interview her.

Historic

Minister Grange has paid tribute to Rear Admiral Wemyss Gorman by releasing this picture. It is a great move. It does a lot to womanhood both locally and internationally.  The world has to stop and look at us.  We may be little,  but we are not small minded.  We allow all to succeed irrespective of their gender.

Commentary

May the army continue to be of great worth to the Jamaican society.  It is playing a critical role in fighting crime.  Also intercepting drugs on the high seas.

It is our hope that Rear Admiral Wemyss Gorman will enjoy a long life and prosperity.
