Religious Focus: St. Jude’s Anglican Church Celebrates 130 Years
Located in the cool climes of St. Andrew, Jamaica W.I is a beautifully designed church with a circular shape and a Communion altar with an actual stone taken from Summit Heights, a not very well known community nearby.
Founded in 1887, St Jude’s has a well manicured lawn and a well educated congregation of about 300. This building now 40 plus years old, replaces the original building. On a personal note, my late mother Mrs. Ivy M.A. O’Connor-Dennie, an educator par excellence sang on the Church choir there … in the old church … I also sang on the choir in this new building.
Rev. Alfred Reid
Former Rector Rt. Reverend Dr. Alfred Reid, former Lord Bishop of the Diocese, now retired, played a pivotal role in the growth and development of this church.
