RUSSELL SIMMONS PLANS HIP-HOP MUSICAL
NEW YORK (AP) — Def Jam Records founder Russell Simmons is looking to conquer a new frontier: Broadway. Simmons is producing a stage musical celebrating hip-hop from Run-DMC to Kanye West. It’s called “The Scenario” and will feature an original story. Simmons says it will be a celebration of hip-hop with a love story and a fight-the-power element. Simmons says audiences will “sing along and leave happy.” He hopes to have it premiere late next year.
