Big Expansion Plans For Sandals.

The passing of Gordon “Butch” Stewart has not stopped or slowed down the growth projections or expansion of the Sandals Group. To the credit of elder Stewart there was succession plan well in place long before his passing. These are five year plans made long ago.

“We do not plan to retire, sell the business and go away.  This business will continue to operate”

Declared Mr. Adam Stewart, who took over as Executive Chairman since the death of his father Gordon “Butch” Stewart in January 2021.  The ascension to the top job in the Group was a smooth and seamless transition to son Adam Stewart.

St. Vincent is to be the first Breezes hotel in the Eastern Caribbean.

“The vision of my late father is in sink with mine.”

“Sandals Dunn’s River will move from 250 to 500 rooms. Effectively doubling the room count at this expanded property.  The business class hotel Ark, in New Kingston which is managed by the Sandals Group is doing very well. We are moving into the luxury market.”

Automotive Division

“On the automotive side of the business which has seen Automotive Traders Limited (ATL) grow and is doing well in its preowned division. For example: you can get a vehicle from one million dollars up. The Honda make had 12 percent when we took over the brand in 1993. Today we have 37 percent of the Honda market in Jamaica.”

The Sandal Group has been around for the past 40 years. The young Adam Stewart now Executive Chairman has worked with the Group for (20) twenty years.  Adam worked closely with his father Gordon “Bush” Stewart who founded the business.

“My father allowed me much autonomy.”

So Adam got a lot of experience on his own.  He had divisions to run. To Gordon “Butch” Stewart’s credit he was always been forward looking.

The Jamaica Observer Newspaper started as an alternative on the media landscape. It is a great paper with super features like Business Leaders, Food features and Fashion Night Out etc.
