Sean “Diddy” Combs Denied Bail, Held in Jail on Federal Sex Trafficking Charges
NEW YORK — Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been denied bail and is being held in jail following his arrest on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The 54-year-old was arrested Monday in Manhattan, with the indictment accusing him of running a criminal enterprise involving abuse, forced labor, and drug-fueled sexual performances known as “Freak Offs” since 2008.
Prosecutors allege that Combs used his influence and power to control victims through coercion, intimidation, and violence, often using staff to cover up his actions. They claim Combs lured both women and men into exploitative situations, using blackmail, drugs, and promises of career advancement. His legal troubles gained momentum after allegations surfaced in a lawsuit from his former partner, Cassie Ventura, which was later settled, though new lawsuits and criminal investigations soon followed.
During his court appearance, Combs pleaded “not guilty” to the charges and remained emotionless as the allegations were read out. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, defended him as innocent, vowing to appeal the court’s decision to deny bail. Agnifilo acknowledged Combs’ past struggles with toxic relationships and substance abuse but insisted that the prosecution’s case stems from a consensual long-term relationship, referencing details similar to those in Cassie’s lawsuit.
Prosecutors, however, argue that they have evidence, including video footage and electronic communications, that implicate Combs in a wide range of criminal activity. If convicted, Combs could face a minimum of 15 years in prison, with the potential for a life sentence.
Further court proceedings are expected as his legal team prepares its defense.
