Sports Perspective By Hopeton O’Connor-Dennie

A number of commentators are beating up on our men.  They are not informed.  If they took time out to do the research they would think differently.

From on or about 1948 to Now our men have dominated the world of track/sprinting.

Our men over 70+ years of track have done Jamaica proud. Racism has not stopped us.

Hitler

Hitler tried to create a super race.

Hitler’s dream boy was one Jesse Owens … He was no match … Hitler was baffled.  We now have a lull. Such is life.  We born, we rise, and we fall. Such is the pattern of humanity.

Women can shine also. From 1948 in Helsinki our men have shone. Do your research my friend (s).

You forget about Rhoden,

McKinley, cannot recall the third name from then,  etc.  We dominated from then, to most recently Bolt,  Powell and Blake.

Jamaican Women

Merlene Ottey, Campbell Brown Shelly-Ann Frazer-Price, etc. have just been on the scene. Jamaica is very respectful and proud of them. It is a cycle. It is their turn to take up the baton.

Jamaican people are not known drug users in athletics.  You know of the US alleged cheats like one USA ‘pharmacist’ suspect named Justin Gatlin etc.  There is natural calm after a storm.

Check Google … It is all there … go and do your research … and you will change your outlook on Jamaican men today. Jamaica relatively, is a poor country. We have cheap training stuff … just talented people.  Many are very proud to be a Jamaican.

Commentary

Let us be respectful of the records our men have set. They will rise again. Just be patient folks … all is not lost. Down but not out forever.

Have a great day.
