Super Cat Explain Why He Stayed Away From Jamaica So Long, Ninja Man Clash & More [VIDEO]

Dancehall icon Super Cat returned to Jamaica last month for Sting 2013.

He received a heroes welcome after only returning to the island for the second time in 20 years and the first time in 12 years.

But Cat’s performance at Sting on December 26 at Jamworld, Portmore was far from what fans had expected. Perhaps the changing dancehall climate is to be blamed.

Super Cat sat down with Winford Williams of OnStage two days before taking the stage on the greatest one night reggae show on earth, where he opened up about why he took so long to return to Jamaica, breaking into the mainstream music market, sleeping in a cemetery, and more.

“This place goes through a lot of turmoil,” Super Cat said. “We have to make what we make to come forward to help our people and when we are here we leave with nothing. So when we go away we go away to build something and the United States is the only place you can go, it is a market place.”
