Supreme Court Gay Ruling

The Roberts Court, November 30, 2018. Seated, from left to right: Justices Stephen G. Breyer and Clarence Thomas, Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr., and Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Samuel A. Alito. Standing, from left to right: Justices Neil M. Gorsuch, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Brett M. Kavanaugh. Photograph by Fred Schilling, Supreme Court Curator’s Office.

The Supreme Court in a landmark ruling has voted 6:3 to grant protection to Gays and Lesbians as it relates to employment protection. In short an employer cannot deny or discriminate against a candidate for a job on the grounds of sexual orientation.

The Law Lords will decided on the Transgender employment protection issue later.

Conservative Court

This is a surprising ruling as this is a Conservative Court. They tend to be influenced by certain Religious Right wing sects. They are commonly referred to as the Conservative right. Some form of Religious fanaticism seem to be their modus operandi or dogma.

The Religious Right condemned the Democrats for being too liberal. They tend to look down on the homosexual lifestyle as “immoral”.

So for a majority of the Justices to vote 6:3 is a major step, if not victory for gays. It should be noted that it was not a unanimous decision. In short there were those on the Court who hold strong views against the homosexual lifestyle.

Contradiction

The areas in the USA where these Religious Right are in abundance … were the last to abolish slavery in 1865 or about. In 1834 to 1838 the Western countries had turned their backs on slavery. So we can see the contradiction. Racism tend to thrive in those areas like down South in the USA. Blue states who tend to vote Republican and likely for Donald Trump. These are called Blue States.
